It took a while for me to realize that what I focus on creates my feelings. When I am having a bad day, stuck in traffic or stressed about work, I try to think about, " who loves me and who do I love." When my mind goes to the feeling of love I am instantly filled will gratitude and a feeling that changes my state IN AN INSTANT.
It is not always easy to snap out of a negative state-especially if we feel we "need" to live there. For me, it's my yoga practice that has created a constant positive pattern and allowed me to experience the science and effects of changing my state. I am instantly in a better mood when I leave a yoga practice and that is true 100% of the time. But why? I have come to realize that moving your body and focusing on the positive, enhances the way you feel. However, placing all of your energy into what "overwhelms" you and thoughts of past failures is an easy choice we often go-to and making that shift to Happiness takes more effort.
It will be a constant work in progress for me to change the words in my brain that create how I feel. Doing it daily is the KEY and moving your body helps assist in these thoughts. WE have a choice about what we choose to focus on which creates how we feel! So right now I am going to sit back, close my eyes and think about ... JOY, LOVE, GRATITUDE, PASSION, AND WONDER.
